A Study on the Perception of Nurses about the Meaning of Caring

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe the perception of Nurses about the meaning of Caring. Descriptive survey was done for this study from Jun 23, 1995 to July 2, with the open-ended questionnaire.
The results of this study were summarized as follows
1. 197 statements were evaluated and adjusted to 42 meaningful statements about caring.
2. Forty-two statements were evaluated and classified into thirteen categories-Love, Help, Empathy, Presence, Comfort, Concern, warmth, Teaching, Respect for person, Belief, Fulfillment, Support and Healing.
3. The relationship between characteristics in Nurses and thirteen caring constructs was found statistically significant in age, career, and hospital department.
